It’s not often that I get excited about gadgets but the latest piece of kit from Sony looks to be a rather nice one. The Xperia Tablet Z has finally made its debut and there’s nothing terribly wrong with it but it’s certainly not the strongest of the Android tablets out there.
For those of you looking for the overall weak spots, the cameras are probably the first thing to start with. It has a 1.2MP front facing camera and a 5MP rear facing camera. There’s no flash on the back either, just a circular window for whatever light you’re shooting in, which is hardly ideal.
The screen is 1080 x 1920 pixels, which is about as big as you’re going to find on a tablet. It has a 9.4″ screen but a pixel density of 278ppi. It’s a Super LCD2 and is capable of both 1080p and 720p content.
The Battery capacity is 3,280mAh. It comes with 16GB of internal memory and the microSD card slot supports up to 64GB of additional memory.
The tablet itself weighs in at 735g and is 3mm thin.
There’s Wi-Fi and 3G. The tablet will run Android 4.2.2 with a version of Sony’s UI.
